Rev. Angus Wu

Rector

Rev. Angus Wu was born and raised in Hong Kong. He answered God’s calling and obtained Bachelor of Theology and Master of Divinity from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in HK. He served at the Gloria Lutheran Church (ELCHK) and the Lutheran Theological Seminary as Chaplain for a total of twenty years. In 2021, he and his family moved to Vancouver, where he began serving at SMSL, focusing on

parish development.

THE Very Reverend Archie Pell

Hon. Assist. Priest

Archie is a cradle Anglican, ordained Deacon in 1967 and Priest is 1968.

He holds degrees in history, social work, and theology. He has ministered in parishes in Ontario and British Columbia, and was an industrial chaplain in Hamilton, Ontario, As a Canadian Army chaplain he has ministered in Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Manitoba, and British Columbia. He taught for 20 years in Regent College’s Anglican Studies Program. His final post before retirement was as Dean of Multicultural Ministries in the Asian and Multicultural Ministries area of the Anglican Network of Canada. He is married to Caron, and has a daughter, a son, two grandsons, and a great granddaughter.

Rev. James Kim

Hon. Assist. Priest

Fr. James Kim was born and raised in Busan, South Korea, and immigrated to Canada in 1996. He holds a B.A. in Music and a Master of Education from Pusan National University, Busan, South Korea, a Master of Divinity from Trinity Western University, Langley, B.C., Canada, and a Post-M.Div. from Concordia Lutheran Seminary, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Ordained into the Holy Ministry in 2006 at Lutheran Church-Canada, he served as a parish pastor (rector) in Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, and New Westminster, B.C. He joined the Anglican Network in Canada and was re-ordained as a deacon and priest in 2023. Following his re-ordination, he serves as an honorary priest at St. Matthias & St. Luke Church and is involved in Korean Anglican church planting in Langley. Additionally, he works as an instructor for the RMT program at Langara College, Vancouver, and West Coast College, New Westminster, during weekdays. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano, arranging music, and fishing in beautiful nature.

Deacon Walter Wong

Vocational Deacon

Walter and his wife Francis have been members of SMSL since its establishment on July 1, 1997. Walter obtained a Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and an accounting degree from the University of British Columbia. Walter is a Chartered Accountant who worked for the federal government until his retirement in 2017. Called by God, he was ordained as a Vocational Deacon in 2020. He has studied at the Regent College Theological Seminary and has participated in multiple mission trips in the BC Interior and Central America. He believes that serving God alongside his brothers and sisters is a tremendous honor and blessing.

Anson Tang

Evangelist

Over the past decade, Anson has primarily focused on researching new media and the development of artificial intelligence. He has provided technology training for numerous churches, theological colleges, corporations, and charitable organizations in Hong Kong, Malaysia, and Canada. He has served as a youth evangelist for an international church and a guest lecturer at the YMCA Christian Ministry College. Since 2023, he has been serving at SMSL Church. In his leisure time, he enjoys traveling, mountain racing, snowboarding, basketball, and coding.
