Church is not a place, it is a people. Church is a diverse group of people who have been called and gathered together by God, around Jesus Christ, our saviour and Good Shepherd, who has laid down his life for his sheep. Under the leadership of Jesus Christ: our King, Good Shepherd and Great High Priest, we have two priests who strive to lead this community towards Jesus. Our priests (from the word "presbyter", meaning elder) are also our pastors (which is Latin for "shepherd"), meaning they are responsible for leading our congregation ever closer to our Father in Heaven who loves us and has saved us through the sacrificial death of His Son our Saviour Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Chris joined St. Matthias and St. Luke in 2015 as our curate, and now is the Assistant Priest of our parish overseeing the English Ministries. Before coming to SMSL, Chris studied at Regent College, graduating in April 2015 with a Master of Divinity degree. A life-long Vancouverite, Chris is passionate about the outdoors, even in the rain, and also about seeing his city come to know the love and goodness of God shown in His Son Jesus. Chris grew up within a vibrant church, studying God’s Word within a loving community that sought to embody God’s Kingdom and participate in His mission. Chris and his wife Melissa, along with Hudson and Julia, are thrilled to be a part of the SMSL community, and hope you may feel at home here as well.
